Lawrence Yera, 71, of Riley Township, entered into Eternal Life on Saturday, June 2, 2012. He was born in Yugoslavia on April 3, 1941, a son to John and Katherine (Bohn) Yera. He married Saundra Lee Lambert on July 20, 1963 in St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Capac, Michigan and served his country faithfully as a member of the U.S. Army.
Larry worked in construction with L. E. Meyer Company of Troy, MI. He was also employed by Michigan Rivet Co. in Warren where he worked in quality control and he most enjoyed his part-time job as a school bus driver for the Capac Schools. Larry was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Emmett. He was an avid golfer, loved polka dancing and enjoyed being with his family and being around children.
Larry is survived by his wife, Saundra Lambert Yera; children, Lynn Dupont, Jeffrey (Marilyn) Yera, Christine (Dale) Thompson and Timothy Yera; his father, John Yera; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren: and 3 sister and a brother. He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Yera.
Funeral Mass to celebrate Larry’s life will be at 11 A.M. on Thursday in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Emmett, with The Reverend Tom Kuehnemund presiding and Larry’s family will welcome visitors in Kammeraad Funeral Home, Memphis, on Wednesday 2 – 8 P.M. and in the church on Thursday from 10 A.M. until the time of Mass at 11 A.M. Scripture service will be at 7 P.M. on Wednesday in the funeral home.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the National Stroke Association or to the American Diabetes Association.
